The time has come, marking the end of an era! Your little one is not so little anymore and it’s time to say goodbye to the infant seat! A not too distant memory of the time and effort it took to make the infant car seat decision and now, you have have to do it again! It’s the booster seat era!

No worries though, overwhelming as it may be, this review will narrow down that list, which most likely contains the Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat, a popular choice among parents. It contains the back support which can be later removed to remain with the booster seat alone. Here we will break down the features that’ll assist you in taking this important step and in making your decision.

Britax has the patent to the ClickTight installation system which is basically designed to simply ‘click’ and ‘go’. An installation system that even the non-technical parent can do. Britax proudly states that the harness is easy to adjust while still installed in your car and as your child grows. In older models, one would have to uninstall the seat, adjust the harness and then re-install – but, this isn’t the case with the Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat. Keeping this in mind, we came some reviews from users stating that the harness is significantly difficult to tighten while the seat is installed. Responses to these claims have found that this could be because of the shape of their vehicle seat. Since the straps that form the harness run behind the booster and press on the vehicle seat, there could be some friction depending on the shape of the vehicle seat, which could restrict movement on the straps. Due to this, the Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat may not be suitable for all vehicle types. A suggestion we came across was to purchase this seat at a place that accepts returns so that you could have some time to test it on your vehicle and see if it is compatible.

For the crotch straps, there are two settings, also adjustable while the car seat is installed and, the buckle flips forward when you aren’t using it, making it easy to find. Gone are the days when parents would have to dig under their child’s torso looking for the buckle- phew!

Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat as with all current Britax seats, also uses the SafeCell system on its base. This system is designed to reduce the forward motions that occurs in the event of a crash. The headrest is also padded with energy-absorbing foam and is designed to protect the head, neck and body by restricting movement during a crash.

There is adequate labelling designed to help parents install the seat correctly for optimum safety. A red path is meant for the booster users and the green path is meant for the harness users.

Children come in different sizes and a constant thought for many parents is whether the seat will fit their child. With the Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat, the harness is adjustable according your child’s height or size- without any need for re-thread. You can use the harness option for a child up to 90 pounds- in some countries, due to the law, the limit is 65 pounds. The recommended standing height for the harness option is between 30 and 58 inches. When your child starts to use the booster option of the seat, the weight limit is 120 pounds with a standing height of between 45 and 62 inches. This means that the Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat may be your last car seat purchase because after this, your little one is not so little and can ride in the car- adult style! If you have multiple children, then you may be able to gift this treasure to the one who’s next in line – the expiry date for this seat is 10 years!

The Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat is made with premium fabric. Reviews on its quality are mixed. Some say it’s awesome, others say it’s rough. One aspect agreed upon is how easy it is to clean and easy to fit back after laundering – which once again does not require you to uninstall the seat. When it comes to fabric, I think you would have to go into to the store and have an honest feel to decide if it meets your standards.

The Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat is padded with foam and therefore should be pretty comfortable. However, comfort has lost a few points based on the musings on the roughness of the fabric. Unfortunately, there are also some users who felt that the headrest was somewhat harder than other models in the market and did not offer sufficient support especially when the child was napping. This one is my pet peeve, but the reviews are also somewhat conflicted, meaning it would probably be best to try it out i.e. purchasing the seat at a location with the ability to return if dissatisfied.

The seat reclines for added comfort and only in the harness option. It has two cup holders at the bottom of the seat which are easy to reach. There’s also space to keep some snacks and small toys that your child can easily reach.

The Britax Frontier Clicktight Car Seat offers the option of being the second and last stage car seat for your child. While it has many amazing features, especially regarding safety and installation, it is one of those purchases that require an in-person touch and feel. It definitely wouldn’t appeal to everyone; however, I believe its pros definitely outweigh its cons.
