The Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster is a stage two/three car seat and booster. A younger, lighter, shorter child would use the harnessed option. An older, heavier, taller child would use the booster option. It isn’t a Rolls-Royce of car seats, but it has many attributes that would appeal to parents. Seeing as there are many options out there playing for your vote, we will break down this harnessed booster below to inform your decision.

The EvenfloChase Harnessed Booster is designed for both latch and tether systems and, therefore, suitable for most car types.

There is ample guidance on how to install the seat. This includes a guided path when you and your child are ready for the booster without the harness. Other customers seem to agree as well, i.e., with the fact that it is easy to install.

Keeping this in mind, there have been some complaints about un-installation- there seems to be some difficulty when trying to unlatch the seat from the car.

Statements include that it is time-consuming, the latch gets stuck, and takes quite a bit of tugging to unlatch. These reviews are few and far between. Therefore, we can take this with a grain of salt as there could be several factors causing this and, they may not necessarily be attributed to the Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster.

The Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster manufacturers claim that the seat meets or exceeds the Federal safety standards and include their own standard, the Evenflo’s Side Impact Test.

The Federal safety standards are the government body that governs the car seat design and performance, usually for children who weigh up to 65 pounds. They look at the vehicles’ anchors, and tethers, their location, the energy-absorbing capabilities, the list goes on.

Just the mere fact that the seat surpassed these standards assures me as a consumer. The seat also comes equipped with energy absorbent foam and a padded head pillow for that extra protection in case of a crash.

We came across a review from a parent who was involved in an accident. He states that while he was bruised, his child escaped with no injuries. At the end of the day, this is what we want, right? A seat that keeps our most precious cargo safe!

Remember that the Evenflo Chase Car Seat is a forward-facing car seat; therefore, it is not suitable for infants while it has a harness. The harnessed option is suitable for a child who weighs between 22 and 40 pounds with a height of up to 50 inches.

For the booster option (i.e., using the car seat belt to secure the seat and child and not the harness), the suitable child weight is between 40 and 110 lbs with a height of between to 43.3 inches and 57 inches.

The Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster is made with fabric that is machine washable. The care label recommends a separate wash in cold water using the delicate cycle of your washer. It can also be tumble dried; however, it should be in low heat, and a short cycle of 10-15 minutes should suffice. Customers have stated the ease in which the fabric is easily removed and re-installed. We didn’t find any reports of shrinkage, which is a good thing. For the parent who loves to clean, this would be ideal for you!

While the energy-absorbing foam is for safety during a crash, it is also plush and comfortable. Your child isn’t stuck sitting on a hard-bumpy surfaced car seat. The head pillow also includes this added padding for your child to rest his/her head. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched my kids head flail around when they fall asleep in the car! I’ve found myself stopping to add a pillow or just talking to them to make sure they stay awake. Every parent knows, those few minutes of silence in the car when they fall asleep give us a chance to BREATHE before getting home finally. The last thing you want to do is wake them up or work even harder to keep them up (sigh). In summary, a comfy headrest is a MUST!

The Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster also has integrated cup holders. This means that you don’t have to pull it out and slide it back in. Therefore, the seat’s width stays the same, and if you have more than one child sharing the back seat, there won’t be issues with insufficient space when cup holders are needed. Anything that doesn’t entice arguing in the back seat is a win for me!

The Evenflo Chase Harnessed Booster has the basic needs you would want in stage two/three car seats. It may not have all the cool gadgets some car seats have, but it does get the job done! It is affordable, and Evenflo has assured the consumer that it will keep your little one safe. It is easy to clean, which is to clean with detachable components that can be washed separately. I know for me, it isn’t clear if it wasn’t immersed in water and soap. All in all, it works! Not much more you can ask for!
